Top 11 - Live Blog

The theme for this week is "Billboard #1s" which is a pretty weak theme if you ask me. The theme was GOING to be "Teen Idols" which got canceled at the last minute. The mentor tonight is Miley Cyrus (Why?).

Here are the songs the Idols will be singing tonight, thanks to Top Idol.

The person voted off this week will not get to go on tour. So this is one of the most important nights of the competition for these contestants.

Lee DeWyze - "The Letter" by The Box Tops - I like this song, but I'm not sure I like the way he changed the arrangement. He sang it well, but the phrasing was odd. Randy says Lee knocked it out of the box. Ellen says Lee is like her favorite pen (what?). Kara says he has never sounded better. Simon says it was corny, but he sounded good. (Buy on iTunes)

Paige Miles - "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins - Horrible, "pitchy", one of the worst finalist performances in a long time. Randy says it was terrible. Ellen says she looks beautiful. Kara says she's not competing anymore, says it was the worst vocal of the season. Paige says her pitch was all over the place. Simon says it was all over the place, and that she is serious trouble tonight. (Buy on iTunes)

Tim Urban - "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen - Probably one of Tim's best vocals, but that's not saying a lot really. Randy says the vocals were boring and very karaoke, but he liked his slide. Ellen says it was like a high school musical audition. Kara says he acted like he already made it, and has a lot of work to do. Simon says it was pointless and silly. (Buy on iTunes)

Aaron Kelly - "I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith - Well, he was better than Paige. Randy says he was better than Tim and Paige. Ellen says he was "so good" Kara says he is consistent and made a good attempt. Simon says he is old fashioned, but will not go home tonight. (Buy on iTunes)

Crystal Bowersox - "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin - I will be surprised if she doesn't make the finals. She is amazing every week. Randy says she is a star. Ellen says she was great, but needs more personality. Crystal says she has big plans for next week. Kara says she wants to see her let go. Simon says she doesn't need to change anything. (Buy on iTunes)

Michael Lynche - "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Michael Bolton - I like Mike, he seems like a really nice, fun guy. I can see him going a long way, he has a great voice. Excellent performance. Randy says it was not his best vocal, but he loved it. Ellen says he has an amazing tone. Kara says it was boring, but good technically. Simon says it was too much. (Buy on iTunes)

Andrew Garcia - "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" by Smokey Robinson - Miley gave him some good advice about putting the guitar down. But I feel like he was just kind of talking the words of the song, not much singing going on. Randy says it wasn't good. Ellen says it was not fantastic. Kara says he is confused on stage. Simon says Straight Up was overrated, says this performance sucked... the life out of the song. (Buy on iTunes)

Katie Stevens - "Big Girls Don’t Cry" by Fergie - I love this song and I don't think she did very well singing it. She's not the worst, but she's not that good either. Randy says he is glad she is listening to their advice. Ellen says it was her best performance. Kara says she should be singing this kind of music more often but has "mad pitch issues". Simon says it was a good performance. (Buy on iTunes)

Casey James - "Power of Love" by Huey Lewis & The News - Probably the best guy of the night, but I'm not running out to buy his album just yet. Randy says he did it well. Ellen says it was the best vocal of the night. Kara says he is on another level. Simon says it was like listening to an 80s cover band. (Buy on iTunes)

Didi Benami - "You’re No Good" by Linda Ronstadt - I hope Didi is singing this song to the other contestants, because it would be true for most of them. I thought she was amazing. Probably the best of the night for me. Randy says it was pitchy. Ellen says she didn't get the song choices tonight. Kara says it felt like she was trying to be something that she isn't. Simon says it was like the bad part of a musical. Didi says she doesnt want to be pidgin-holed into one genre and wanted to do something different. (Buy on iTunes)

Siobhan Magnus - "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder - What a way to close the show, almost makes me forget about the trainwreck performances that went before her. I loved it! Randy says she is fearless and thought it was great. Ellen says she loves her. Kara says it was not her best performance, but thought it was amazing. Simon says a lot of people won't like it.
